Reduce the amount of grass in your yard to reduce water usage significantly.

Make soil improvements and use mulches to improve water absorption.

Plant native, drought tolerant vegetation.

Irrigate efficiently. Set a timer for the early morning or evening on designated watering days only.

Install a drip or bioswale irrigation system for optimum water usage.

Reclaimed or recycled building materials are readily available today. Use them wherever possible.

Shop locally - go to the local farmers' markets or grow your own garden for fresh herbs and vegetables.
