Architectural Styles

When you set out to build a place that feels special, that feels right, you incorporate an attention to detail and commitment to quality that never wavers. You also adorn that community with an architectural look that is pleasing, intriguing, and creative. Kiley Ranch is built around a theme that exudes a casual, rustic, understated country atmosphere. The style of homes here — Western Ranch, Cottage, Farmhouse, Craftsman, and Victorian — complement that theme while providing an aesthetic to each neighborhood that is kind to the eye. To enhance the small town feel of Kiley Ranch and to maintain variety, a minimum of three out of five architectural styles are required within each neighborhood. The talents of our Guest Builders and architects, along with the design platforms set forth, ensure that Kiley Ranch will remain that sense of place we’re proud to call home.

Western Ranch

Western Ranch

There are rustic and utilitarian characteristics to this style that hark back to Nevada’s early ranching days. Construction techniques and materials are pleasantly pure and simple with colonial, stick, shingle and Cape Cod architectural influences.

Cottage

Cottage

Soldiers returning from World War I brought with them an appreciation for French and English cottages that kindled a popular construction trend across the country. Steeply pitched roofs, minimal fascias, and an exterior finish consisting mainly of stucco are the main characteristics of this look with accents including brick, wood siding, board and batten, and shingles.

Farmhouse

Farmhouse

What was once a construction style borne of necessity has today become a look that is simultaneously casual and refined. Farmhouse styles are a blend of both colonial and Cape Cod influence but unlike the rustic nature of the Western style home, the finishes and details are more refined.

Craftsman

Craftsman

As you wind your way from one Kiley Ranch neighborhood to another, you’ll come across a style of home that stands out for its use of hand finished materials that generate a rusticated texture. These are Craftsman homes whose roots date to the Industrial Revolution, a distinctive construction style that was inspired by a movement in English arts and crafts.

Victorian

Victorian

When Kiley Ranch was in its infancy, the Victorian style had made its mark on towns across the country, especially in the new west. The Victorian era was one of innovation and revival in architecture, introducing styles that included Elizabethan, Italianate, Tuscan, Shingle Style, and Victorian Queen Anne. At the turn of the century, “Folk Victorian” became the trend of western towns, supplanting turrets with gables and featuring influences in wood detailing and decorative trim elements.
